Lettuce (scientific name: Lactuca sativa L.) is an annual or biennial herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family. Its growth habits, types and planting techniques are as follows:

Growth habits:
Lettuce likes a cool and humid climate, and the optimum temperature for growth is 15-25°C. Too high or too low temperatures will affect its growth. Lettuce grows well in adequate sunlight, fertile soil, and moderate moisture. The growth stages of lettuce are divided into germination stage, seedling stage, mass stage and bolting stage.

Lettuce can be divided into spring lettuce, summer lettuce, autumn lettuce and winter lettuce according to the growing season and eating parts. In addition, there are varieties such as purple leaf lettuce, wrinkled leaf lettuce, etc.

Planting Techniques:
(1) Sowing period: Choose the appropriate sowing period according to the type and growth habits of lettuce. Spring lettuce is generally sown in January-February, summer lettuce in April-May, autumn lettuce in July-August, and winter lettuce in October-November.

(2) Sowing method: Soak the seeds for 3-4 hours before sowing, wash them and remove them from the dry water, place them in an environment of 20℃ for germination, and wash them with clean water once a day. After the seeds germinate, sow the seeds 20-30 cm apart between rows.
